Overview
Insight® is software for digital collections which revolutionizes
the way leading educational and cultural heritage institutions archive,
research and teach. The service is currently available to all institutional
departments and being used by the departments of Art and Architecture
and the Middle American Research Institution. Images and data for
each collection are maintained by the department that owns the collection.
Access
Insight Online
Click here
to access Insight. Be sure to disable any pop-up blockers in your
web browser. Note that, if you prefer, you can download the Insight
Java application instead (see below).
At
the prompt, enter:
* Username: Your Insight Username
* Password: Your Insight Password
You
can then proceed to use Insight. If you need assistance, see the support
links below.
Request
an Account
Click here to request an Insight
account. Insight accounts are available for students, staff and faculty
members. An Insight account will allow you to browse all of Tulane's
image collections.
Install
the Insight Java Application
If you prefer to access Insight from your desktop rather than online,
you can download Luna's Insight 5.6 Java application software directly
from the manufacturer's website.
To
do so, go to http://www.lunaimaging.com/downloads/,
scroll down to the Insight JAVA Client download, and choose the version
of the application that matches your computer. Be careful that the
download corresponds both to your platform (PC or Mac) and to your
current operating system (e.g., XP or OS X). Note that the file is
rather large, and may take several minutes to download, depending
on the speed of your network connection.
Once
the file has been downloaded, install it using the advanced setting
and follow the directions in the various dialogue boxes as they appear
on your screen.
*Make sure you scroll down until you see the Insight 5.6 section.
No password is required to download Insight.*
When asked for the User Manager Address type: luna.ts.tulane.edu.
The application is now ready for use.
