The
digital media area of the School of Art allows students to explore
the expressive and conceptual potential of digital-based projects
ranging from print to physical computing. Digital media students
receive a foundation in digital imaging, time-based media (animation
and video), along with other classes that examine advanced video,
3-D graphics and interactivity, both virtual and physical. From
these classes, students gain an understanding of standard and
emerging technologies related to the creation of digital-based
projects.
The
digital media studio is equipped with 14 Macintosh workstations
along with the latest software from Adobe, Macromedia, Apple,
and Bias. These workstations are connected to 4 scanners, 3 medium-format
Epson printers and a large-format Epson plotter. Digital cameras
and digital video equipment are available on loan to students
to create still and time-based imagery.
