We packed our gear this morning and made ready to leave the Posada de Don Rodrigo de Panajachel. The hotel made an excellent base of operations and an even better production location.

We wrapped production in Panajachel today! Spent the morning shooting more of the "job description" photos around town, including teacher and bricklayer. Around 10am, we returned to the hotel grounds with Tojil, Ix'Im'Nik'te and Ix'Kamey to shoot the final dialogues.

Today we went in search of butterflies. The nearby Hotel Atitlan maintains its own mariposario or butterfly habitat, along with a garden and nature preserve. After a short hike through town to grab lunch and feed the dogs of Panajachel (an activity deserving a blog entry all its own), we grabbed a tuk-tuk and rode over to the preserve.

Things have been going too well, and in accordance with Murphy, we were due for a problem. Last night it came at us with a vengeance. Despite our best precautions, Marie ate something that disagreed with her. Violently.

Another beautiful day in Panajachel. Thought we would get some rain for sure this afternoon, but it held off. Shot everything we wanted to, including the family dialogue with Ix'Nal and Lajuj Batz featuring the doctored family photo.

Long production day yesterday. The hotel cyber café had closed by the time we had returned from dinner, so here's yesterday's update...
Completed the first two of the family dialogues today. Did the first one in the morning, but got a late start so we didn't finish until almost 12:30. The delay was due to a traje crisis.

Spent the morning shooting the rest of the body dialogue. Of course there were similar sound issues (add "hotel painter whistling," "gardener mowing adjacent property," and "political rally truck blaring" to the list of production annoyances). But at least it didn't rain. In fact, the sun stayed out all day – didn't rain until we were ready for dinner. Guess I can live with that.
