July 27, 2008 - We're home! Made the road trip from Antigua to Guatemala City with no problems, caught all flights on time, flew through customs with no issues, and - finally - arrived safely at our respective homes: Marie, Valerie and I in New Orleans and Lee in Portland

The final production tally: 8 hours of footage on twelve HD-DVCam tapes, nearly 2000 digital photos, more than 45 minutes of Flip Video footage, four lesson modules, and 15 dialogues.

Now, as last year, the real work begins. Sheldon will transfer the digital video from tape to hard drive and ship it to Lee in Portland. Lee will edit the material as the scripted dialogues require and then ship the results on the hard drive back to us in New Orleans. Sheldon will render into Flash video format and then turn them over to Marie. In the meantime, Marie will work with the Flash programmer to design the interface and functionality of the modules and create the actual lessons. Eventually, the Flash video clips will be integrated into the final version of the application.

This completes the fourth production trip for the eKaqchikel project - a collaboration between the Tulane Innovative Learning Center and the Stone Center for Latin American Studies. The fifth and final production trip is scheduled for next year. After that, a final year will be spent completing the editing and programming. We hope to continue this successful collaboration and focus this very effective content representation process onto other topics.
