Monday, July 20 - First day of actual production! Spent the morning scoping out locations and changing traveler's checks for quetzales. In the afternoon, shot two dialogues with our Kaqchikel teachers and picked up a few audio lines for later use as narration. Even built a sound booth! Not bad for a half day shoot.
There's a lot to cover today but it's late and my Internet access is about to cut off so I'll keep it simple. Finally had a little time to delve further into the Geo-Logger. I choose the Geo-Tracker from GiSTEQ. It's a simple device that picks up your GPS coordinates as you move around and records them with a time stamp. Later, you can sync those time-stamped coordinates with your time stamped digital images. Works well in theory and ALMOST works as well in practice, but there are some challenges. Still, I was able to geo-tag all the images from today. You should be able to see where we were and what we saw via this Flickr map. More to come on this topic.
And finally, we've discovered that we actually have limited wireless access during the day. When we find it we manage to toss a few Tweets out here and there. If you Twitter, follow our hashtag: #ekaq
