Back in October David Robinson and I finally had the chance to currate a new media art exhibition at the Carroll Gallery. The show - "New Art, New Media, New Orleans" - featured works by local artists and was staged in conjunction with the regional conference of the New Media Consortium.

Classroom Refresh

It's not hard to design and install a technology-enhanced classroom: a projector, a screen, a few cables and a computer and you have your room. Designing a campus-wide system of technology-enhanced classrooms and keeping them all operating at full capacity every day of the school year with an FTE staff of one – that's the real trick. One element of this elaborate juggling act we call classroom support is preventative replacement, A.K.A.,technology refresh.

Stitch Away!

Tulane test panorama-3

Followed a link from Alan Levine's excellent new media blog (CogDogBlog) and found Autostitch. It's an amazing 2D automatic image stitching utility - 2D as in vertical and horizontal panoramas - and comes out of the AI lab at the University of British Columbia. It produces a seamless panorama from even the most casually captured images. It even manages to smooth out the shifting presence of moving people, cars, etc.
