Playlist for July 8, 2007 In case you weren't aware, dire things are afoot in the world of music royalty and educational radio stations may have to carry a larger load than they're able. To put it simply, the Copyright Royalty Board or CRB has recently set new rates for Internet broadcasting that will all but put college radio and other educational radio broadcasters out of business. Not only are the rates prohibitive, but they're retroactive, meaning that once they go into effect on July 16, broadcasters not only owe the new rates (at least twice what we pay now) but we'll owe it for last year, too.
