The
Certificate of Artistry (CA) program offers students intensive, in-depth
knowledge and experience in a three-year-plus program of study. Students
may choose to study in one of five disciplines: Creative Writing,
Dance, Music, Theater or Visual Art.
Students may choose to select more than one discipline, creating a
multiple focus, however the study of more than one discipline will
be contingent on the assessment of the student’s work, maturity
and faculty recommendations.
Curriculum content and course studies are determined for each student
based on a placement audition and/or portfolio assessment (to determine
skill level). Typically, students will be scheduled for a placement
audition after registration is completed.
Quarterly
progress reports along with formative and summative semester assessments
will be scheduled to evaluate student progress. Year-end evaluation
of a student’s work, discipline, skill, creativity and faculty
recommendations will determine retention and promotion to the next
level of course study. Assessment criteria are based on the National
Standards for Arts Education.
