LUSHER CHARTER SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION

Dear Parents, Families and Friends of Lusher:

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year.  I look forward to serving you as the PTSA president. The aim of our Lusher PTSA is to support the educational programs of Lusher Charter School.  To accomplish this, PTSA members are involved in projects large and small throughout the school.  We organize and coordinate fundraisers that provide parents with opportunities to serve as resources for the school.  We play an integral part in renovating, cleaning, computer networking and landscaping at both school sites.  The Goldring Performing Arts Center was built with funds raised by the PTSA.

We depend heavily on your support.  The PTSA assessment fee and various fundraisers throughout the year are key components of our mission.  Some of our fundraisers include the Soiree Musicale & Silent Auction and the Lusher Crawfish Boil.  The Soiree Musicale and Silent Auction, a parent event scheduled for November 2oth at Tipitina’s, showcases the musical talent of the Lusher community.  The Crawfish Boil, our largest fundraising event, is a Lusher community celebration where students, their families, and staff work and play together.  These events, and many others, support Lusher as a place in which all members can share, communicate, participate, and collaborate.

The PTSA has regular monthly meetings, usually on the 3rd Tuesday of every month of the school year.  The meetings are held at both school sites, alternating between the two.  All parents, teachers, and students are considered members of the PTSA and are invited to attend these meetings to learn firsthand what is going on at school.  There is an elected PTSA board, and only board members are allowed to vote on PTSA business; however, all interested community members are welcome to take part in the meetings.

Please check the Lusher Letter for dates and location.

The richness and diversity of the Lusher community are essential ingredients to the unique learning environment of Lusher Charter School.  We are fortunate to have a community of parents, families, and friends that we can rely on to do what is necessary for all of the children at Lusher to succeed. Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Kiki Huston PTSA President
