Arc of Greater New Orleans
- Healthy wetlands once surrounded the greater New Orleans area and protected it from hurricane storm surges, but various human activities have led to their degradation and rapid disappearance. Bayou Rebirth is engaging volunteers in and teaching the local citizenry about coastal restoration.

- The Beacon of Hope Resource Center is a grassroots organization that provides homeowners with resources and information to assist them in the process of returning and rebuilding their homes. The organization works to maintain clean neighborhoods to enhance the quality of life and to facilitate the rebirth of its neighborhood.

- City Park is one of the most important green spaces in the city, and it supports a variety of conservation locations. The hundreds of acres of Park land also provide enjoyment for young children playing on its playgrounds and walkers, joggers, and bicyclists winding through the Park's streets and trails.

City Park
- Common Ground Relief provides short term relief for victims of hurricane disasters in the gulf coast region, and long term support in rebuilding the communities affected in the New Orleans area. Common Ground Relief is a community-initiated volunteer organization offering assistance, mutual aid and support. The work gives hope to communities by working with them, providing for their immediate needs and emphasizes people working together to rebuild their lives in sustainable ways.

- CANO project-The Studio at Colton School provides working and exhibition space in exchange for free creative class for the community to artists and students in order to advance their career, education and marketing opportunities. The Studio features 78 local artists, designers, arts organizations, performers, film makers, builders and culinary artists.

- The Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center is hosting Fit For a King ’09 Community Power Day @ Dillard University as a communal celebration of Dr. King’s legacy. The event will feature screenings of films about neighborhoods around the country who are working to reclaim their communities and create affordable housing, followed by conversations about community power in New Orleans.

- High Voltage Youth Camp began during the summer or 1991 to provide educationsal and recreational programs to homeless, run-away and economically disadvantaged youth living in distressed neighborhoods in the New Orleans are.

High Voltage Youth Camp
- Junior Achievement is a worldwide K-12 educational nonprofit that inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. The three core pillars of our curriculum are financial literacy, work-readiness and entrepreneurship. JA BizTown is a program in which 5th and 6th grade students undergo 18 hours of classroom training in which they learn about communities, economies, banking, check writing, and how to get a job.

- Mary Queen of Vietnam Neighborhood Community Development Corps. is committed to rebuilding the Vietnamese American community in New Orleans East and to contribute to the rebuilding of a more equitable New Orleans. In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, MQVN CDC played a leading role in providing emergency relief assistance as well as organizing Vietnamese-American residents to play an active role in the rebuilding of the community surrounding New Orleans East area.

MQVN CDC: Community Clean-up
- Operation Helping Hands brings volunteers from across the country together to help rebuild New Orleans by rebuilding homes of elderly, disabled or uninsured homeowners. They provide assistance by doing limited electrical and plumming work, hanging sheetrock, painting, landscaping, and help homeowners to navigate the intimidating process of finding reputable contractors and filling out paperwork.

The Community Book Center
- UNITY is committed to ending homelessness and bringing New Orleans home. Their mission is to provide services to those who are homeless – those families and individuals who were homeless prior to Katrina, as well as those who have lost their homes as a result of Katrina, advocate for effective public policies to bring home and rebuild the lives of all low-income people in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish, and work to prevent new homelessness as we rebuild our community.

- Since 1991 the Jefferson Parish Christmas Tree project has recycled over 700,000 Christmas trees have been recycled by using them to rebuild wetlands rather than taking up valuable landfill space. These tree fences help slow wave action, trap sediments and combat erosion.

- Help Santa save the wetlands by recycling Christmas trees into the marshes. volunteers will travel in shallow draft boats to assist with placing thousands of Christmas trees into pre-constructed shoreline fences located in Goose Bayou.
